To remain fully present to the flow of life and creatively engaged with its movements requires a steady flow of open hearted, open minded attention. A generous well developed meditation practice is a profound and powerful method for cultivating these mature qualities.
Through meditation practice most of us discover sooner or later, a source of resilience and depth within ourselves that is not easily diminished by the many distractions and real challenges we regularly encounter. Our minds can make us crazy or become a vehicle for enlightenment. We meditate to know the true nature of the mind, its source, potentials and to experience the transcendent mind free state.
At a physiological level the effects of meditation have been well documented from the reduction or elimination of stress related symptomologies to improved immune, endocrinal and cardiovascular function. At the psychological level we find relief from depression and other mind related disorders, facilitating more creative, positive states.
So, real gains are to be made physically, psychologically and on an interpersonal basis, as our everyday activities become an ongoing training in living with awareness and loving kindness for others as well as ourselves.
Shantarasa offers regular facilitated meditation sessions in several formats in the greater Adelaide area. Twice monthy three hour sessions are on offer for those wanting to learn the fundamentals for developing a sound practice within the support of a group setting. Some people choose to attend on a regular basis knowing that the group meditation experience recharges their own personal practice.
Shantarasa schedules introduction to meditation courses several times a year. The techniques taught and the actual space where the program is conducted engender a very natural, spontaneous experience of meditation.
Shantarasa Retreats are another method of receiving this instruction. These are offered nationally. Our retreats create the perfect undisturbed environment that facilitates a deep meeting with stillness and meditation. One returns from our retreats feeling renewed, centered and ready to bring back a current of deep peace that flows into our everyday experience. For more details see our page on retreats or check our events calendar.
Sometimes it is appropriate to tailor a form of meditation practice for individuals and this occurs through private counselling and yoga therapy sessions made by appointment.
